As I said the old 4 banger did not have the guts to run 33" tires. To keep with my future plans I built a 1976 Ford 302 block for my Jeep. And backed it up with a NV435 Trans. It has a 6.75:1 first and a 9.00:1 reverse. I used a model 20 transfer case. My buddy Bill and I made a twin shifter for the model 20 so I can run 2wd low. This setup works very good. I run in 2wd until I need the front axle.
